Overview

In this role you drive the technical design, development and optimization of Citi’s regulatory reporting framework and data pipelines, focusing on onboarding new regulations. You’ll lead a team of engineers within an Agile setting, translating regulatory rules into scalable software solutions. The work combines hands-on coding with system design, data processing and automation to support compliance at scale. Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical design, development and optimization of the regulatory reporting platform and data pipelines
  • Mentor and guide a team of software engineers, performing code reviews and promoting technical excellence
  • Drive onboarding of new regulatory requirements and ensure adaptability to evolving standards
  • Apply AI/ML concepts to enable intelligent automation, anomaly detection and data classification in pipelines
  • Write clean, robust Java/Spring Boot code and set engineering quality standards
  • Design scalable components, microservices and data integration layers for high-throughput processing
  • Develop and optimize distributed data processing jobs with Spark, Hadoop and Hive
  • Build and maintain real-time streaming pipelines with Apache Kafka
  • Design and optimize data models in MongoDB and relational databases
  • Lead Agile execution: sprint planning, estimation, daily progress tracking
  • Translate complex regulatory rules with Business Analysts into precise technical specs
  • Serve as a primary technical liaison, communicating progress and risk to management
  • Establish automated testing and secure coding practices (TDD, OWASP)
Key requirements
  • Significant hands-on software engineering experience in enterprise-scale environments
  • Deep Java/J2EE and Core Java knowledge (Java 8+)
  • Strong Spring ecosystem experience (Boot, Cloud, Data, Security)
  • Proficiency with Spark, Hadoop and Hive; ability to optimize Spark jobs
  • Experience with Apache Kafka for event-driven architectures
  • Strong SQL and database design skills; NoSQL experience with MongoDB
  • Proficiency with Git/Bitbucket, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Agile/Scrum experience; SDLC, secure coding standards and TDD (JUnit, Mockito)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Financial domain knowledge or willingness to learn regulatory reporting (Basel III/IV, CCAR, MiFID, Dodd-Frank)
  • Cloud familiarity (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related technical field
