eFinancialCareers Ltd. Lead JAVA Engineer - Innovative Fintech Platform - J13181 | Hong Kong, HK
Summary
Lead Java engineer on a Hong Kong team building and scaling cloud-native backend microservices (AWS, Kubernetes) for a fintech transaction network connecting wealth management firms with issuers. Day-to-day: Spring Boot services, REST APIs, Kafka/RabbitMQ event-driven messaging, FIX-protocol transaction processing, CI/CD, and production troubleshooting.
About the Client
Our client operates a mature, industry-backed transaction network that connects wealth management firms with major issuers. Their platform is fully cloud-native, built on AWS, and utilizes a modern containerized microservices architecture to handle high-volume order pricing and placement.
The Role & Landscape
You will be joining a specialized engineering team in Hong Kong to build and scale their core backend services. This is a hands-on technical role where you will be involved in the full software development lifecycle.
- Architect, build, and maintain robust Java-based backend services running on Kubernetes.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs (OpenAPI/Swagger) and manage event-driven messaging (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
- Work heavily with the FIX protocol for transaction processing.
- Collaborate directly with the product team on new features and the operations team for CI/CD deployments.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex production issues.
What We Are Looking For
- 7+ years of professional backend development using Java.
- Deep expertise in the Spring framework, specifically Spring Boot.
- Strong practical experience with microservices and event-driven architectures (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, or Kafka).
- Mandatory knowledge and working experience with the FIX protocol.
- Solid grasp of modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git), and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- A strong foundation in software design and enterprise integration patterns.
Note: While FIX protocol knowledge is essential, a traditional banking background is not strictly required if you have the technical chops.
