The Role
The Lead Materials and Corrosion Engineer will lead the delivery of materials engineering consultancy services to the internal Wood business units and to Wood’s external client base. This role is primarily based in Wood offices but may also require on-site support, both onshore and offshore.

Job Objective
The Lead Engineer - Corrosion & Materials will lead the delivery of corrosion and materials engineering consultancy services to internal Wood business units and external clients across the energy sector. The role is primarily based in the UAE but may require occasional support at client facilities both onshore and offshore.
The role is responsible for the delivery of technical consultancy services covering corrosion management, material selection, coatings, welding and metallurgy, integrity assessments and cathodic protection. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership on projects, support business growth initiatives, mentor junior engineers and act as a key interface with clients to ensure high-quality, value-adding solutions are delivered safely and efficiently.
- Lead the execution and delivery of corrosion and materials engineering consultancy projects.
- Develop and review corrosion management strategies, material selection reports, corrosion risk assessments and integrity management studies.
- Provide specialist expertise in corrosion, materials engineering, metallurgy, coatings, welding and cathodic protection.
- Perform technical reviews and approve engineering reports, calculations and recommendations.
- Act as Lead Engineer for small to medium-sized projects, ensuring delivery to agreed budget, schedule and quality requirements.
- Support multidisciplinary Asset Integrity Management, Risk-Based Inspection, life extension and fitness-for-service projects.
- Provide technical assurance and governance for discipline deliverables, including independent reviews, peer reviews and approval of critical technical recommendations.
- Participate in client meetings, workshops, site visits and technical reviews.
- Identify and resolve complex technical challenges through the application of sound engineering judgement and innovative solutions.
- Mentor and support the development of junior and developing engineers within the discipline.
- Contribute to proposals, technical scopes of work, effort estimates and business development activities.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities to expand Wood's service offerings.
- Manage discipline work scopes against agreed budgets and schedules, identify scope growth, support change management and provide progress updates to project management.
- Ensure compliance with applicable HSSE requirements, industry standards and Wood procedures
- Contribute to risk assessments, HAZID/HAZOP actions, safety critical element reviews and barrier management activities where corrosion and materials degradation may impact asset integrity.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, Metallurgy or a related engineering discipline
- Master's Degree in a relevant discipline is advantageous
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE), CPEng or equivalent desirable
- AMPP/NACE certifications, including Senior Corrosion Technologist or equivalent, desirable
- Cathodic Protection qualifications aligned with ISO 15257 or AMPP/NACE CP certification beneficial

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience (>10 years) in corrosion and materials engineering within oil & gas or related industries
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing corrosion management strategies, corrosion monitoring programmes, material selection and integrity management plans
- Experience supporting Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), Fitness-for-Service (FFS) and asset life extension assessments
- Working knowledge of relevant standards including API, ASME, ISO, NACE/AMPP and DNV
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects and coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces
- Experience producing engineering reports, specifications, studies and technical recommendations
- Strong communication, presentation and client-facing skills
- Experience supporting operating assets within the Middle East region would be advantageous.
Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience supporting ADNOC Group companies, including ADNOC Onshore, ADNOC Offshore, ADNOC Gas, ADNOC Sour Gas, ADNOC Distribution or related operating companies
- API 571 (Damage Mechanisms Affecting Fixed Equipment in the Refining Industry) certification or demonstrated familiarity desirable
- API 580 (Risk-Based Inspection) certification or equivalent experience advantageous but not mandatory
- Familiarity with ADNOC engineering standards, specifications, integrity management requirements and project execution processes
- Experience working within the UAE and broader Middle East oil and gas sector
- Knowledge of Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), Fitness-for-Service (FFS) and Asset Life Extension assessments
- Experience supporting brownfield operating assets and field-based integrity management programmes.
