Lead Onboarding KYC
You will lead the First Line KYC function for pre-boarding and onboarding. You will manage operational teams, oversee identity and business verification, risk profiling, and screening, and ensure delivery of the KYC framework. You will design scalable workflows, improve SLAs and quality controls, use automation and data to improve outcomes, and partner with Compliance, Product, Engineering, QA, and Support. You will also manage headcount, forecasting, cost control, governance, audits, and regulatory interactions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the First Line KYC function for pre-boarding and onboarding activities
- Ensure operational execution of the KYC framework during onboarding
- Design and implement scalable onboarding workflows aligned with regulatory requirements and risk appetite
- Partner with Compliance to embed regulatory changes into operational processes
- Own and improve onboarding SLAs, quality controls, and operational metrics
- Oversee automation, tooling, and data sources to improve onboarding throughput and accuracy
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering on onboarding requirements and feature rollouts
- Maintain oversight of headcount, forecasting, and cost control
- Represent the onboarding KYC function in governance forums, risk committees, audits, and regulatory interactions
- Drive a culture of ownership, collaboration, compliance, and member-first delivery
Requirements
- At least 5 years of senior leadership experience in KYC, onboarding, or AML operations within financial services, fintech, or regulated sectors
- Expertise in KYC onboarding frameworks, member due diligence, business verification, and risk assessment
- Experience managing large operational teams and developing people
- Knowledge of UK Money Laundering Regulations, EU AMLD, and local licensing obligations
- Understanding of onboarding risk typologies, including impersonation fraud, synthetic identities, shell companies, PEPs, and sanctions
- Experience working with Product and Tech teams on operational tools, decision engines, and automation solutions
- Communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Fluency in English
- Ability to use KPIs, MI, and analytics to drive operational performance and decision-making
