Summary
Oversee transit operations and maintenance for GO Transit and UP Express, ensuring safe, efficient service delivery and compliance with contracts and standards.
Our Rapid Transit Office is seeking a Lead, Operations and Maintenance to play an important part in the delivery of safe, effective and efficient Rapid Transit service to the community. This role will provide oversight in the implementation of the Operator Services Agreement with the operator and project agreements with other Project Operating Companies across the Rapid Transit programs. The Manager will bring a level of technical and functional oversight to the operation and of Rapid Transit Systems.
- Provide support and strategic input to the senior management on matters related to operations readiness, transition, and steady-state service delivery.
- Lead the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in coordination with the Operator, Maintainer and internal stakeholders.
- Review Operator and Project Co. deliverables/ submittals to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Implement a Compliance Check Program and Key Performance Measure (KPM) Audit Program to monitor Operator & Maintainer performance.
- Identify and manage non-compliance issues in collaboration with RT Quality team.
- Participate in O&M performance and coordination meetings with all relevant stakeholders to resolve issues and operational matters.
- Liaise with external stakeholders on emergency protocols, service planning, and transit infrastructure interfaces.
- Completion of a degree in Engineering, Transportation, Operations Management, or a related discipline; P.Eng. or PMP is an asset.
- Demonstrated progressive responsible experience in transit operations and maintenance, preferably in LRT or Rapid Transit environments.
- Experience managing teams and cross-functional coordination with internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of transit system lifecycle, operations planning, maintenance strategies, and contract/compliance oversight.
- Proven ability to interpret and enforce technical requirements in Project Agreements or similar contractual frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable leading meetings and discussions with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
This individual in this position will assume “On-Call” responsibilities to support operational requirements including various shifts and weekends.
