Legal Assistant | Immigration Legal Assistant Specialist
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Legal Assistant | Immigration Legal Assistant Specialist based in Brazil.
This role offers the opportunity to support U.S. immigration matters in a fully remote, international legal environment. You will play a key part in managing cases, preparing immigration forms and legal documentation, and keeping case files accurate and complete. The position combines legal support, client communication, administrative coordination, and research responsibilities. You will work closely with attorneys while helping clients stay informed and supported throughout their legal journey. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. It is well suited to a proactive legal professional who can work independently while consistently following established procedures and maintaining a high standard of client service.
Accountabilities:
- Manage day-to-day case and client activities, tracking case progress and ensuring supporting documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries through phone and email, appropriately triaging needs and providing clear communication throughout the case lifecycle.
- Assist with appointment scheduling, incoming client calls, and ongoing client coordination to ensure a professional and supportive experience.
- Prepare immigration forms using Docketwise and draft legal documents, recommendation letters, and other supporting materials as instructed by attorneys.
- Assemble complete case packets, verify documentation for accuracy and completeness, and prepare files for attorney review.
- Conduct legal research and case-related analysis as assigned, following attorney instructions and established legal procedures.
- Maintain organized and accurate case records using MyCase and support administrative and legal operations as required.
- Collaborate with the legal team through tools such as MyCase Chat, Google Chat, Google Workspace, and Elevate while adapting to established workflows and communication standards.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive client information and consistently exercise professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment.
- Take on additional legal and administrative responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the broader legal support function.
- Previous experience in a legal support, legal assistant, paralegal assistant, or similar role is preferred.
- Experience in U.S. immigration law is highly valued, particularly familiarity with immigration forms, case preparation, and supporting documentation.
- Previous experience using legal case management systems is preferred, with experience using MyCase considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with immigration form preparation and tools such as Docketwise is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with clients by phone and email.
- Portuguese language knowledge is required.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when preparing legal documents, maintaining case records, and assembling case packets.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and maintain consistent documentation.
- Ability to work independently while carefully following attorney instructions, established procedures, and defined workflows.
- Strong legal research, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
- Ability to learn new systems, technologies, procedures, and processes quickly and adapt effectively to changing priorities.
- Professional, client-focused communication style with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as part of a remote legal team.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, Google Chat, MyCase Chat, and VoIP communication platforms is beneficial.
- Availability to work full-time on a schedule aligned with Pacific Time (PT).
- Monthly compensation of USD 1,150–1,220.
