Level 1 IT Support Technician (MSP)

Posted
Discussion

Summary

Level 1 IT support technician at a small MSP serving the insurance industry: first point of contact for client tickets, troubleshooting Windows endpoints and Microsoft 365 issues by phone and email using RMM and PSA tools. The 6:30am-2:30pm shift comes with a path into Level 2 infrastructure, security, or automation work.

Salary: $60,000 per year

About the role

As a Level 1 Technician, you'll be the first point of contact for day-to-day client support: troubleshooting endpoint and software issues over the phone and by email, working tickets through to resolution, and escalating within the team or to external vendors when a problem calls for it.

You'll get hands-on with Microsoft 365, Windows endpoints, remote monitoring and management tooling, and our PSA platform. There will be a clear path into Level 2, which would entail having more involvement with infrastructure, security or automation work depending on where your interests take you. We support certifications and study for people who want to push further.

The shift we're looking to fill runs from 6:30am to 2:30pm, which means you'll be able to wrap up your work day with plenty of time for afternoon activities. For your first few weeks you'll work standard business hours while the team gets you up to speed on our systems. That way you aren't thrown in the deep end straight away.

What we're looking for

We're paying above the usual Level 1 rate because we want someone who can pick up the phone and start resolving tickets within a few weeks of starting rather than someone we'd need to teach support from scratch. That means:

  • At least 6 months in an IT helpdesk or support role, and proven ability to comfortably troubleshoot remotely over the phone and email

  • The ability to explain technical subjects in plain English to people who aren't technical

  • A real interest in technology. This could mean a home lab, personal projects, or things you've broken and fixed in your own time

  • Comfortable working outside a 9–5, with reliable transport to Buderim for a 6:30am start

  • Australian work rights and a current driver's licence

Qualifications

A Certificate III or above in IT or a related field is an added bonus, but it isn't what we're screening for. We consider demonstrated ability and self-directed study at least as heavily as formal study. If you've taught yourself, show us what you've built.

About BrokerReady

We're an IT managed services provider (MSP) based in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast, supporting the insurance industry across Australia and New Zealand. We're a small, tight-knit team, meaning you will have ownership over service delivery, direct access to senior techs, and real exposure to the systems that run our clients' businesses.
