Life Ins Business Analyst

Symetra is seeking a Business Analyst to join one of our technology delivery pods supporting life insurance digital experiences, systems, and operational processes. You will partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate business needs into clear requirements, improve workflows, and deliver solutions that make it easier for agents, customers, and employees to do business with Symetra.

This role requires curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to understand how business processes and systems work together. You will help the team clarify problems, identify dependencies, and validate that solutions deliver the intended business outcomes. You will work independently with general direction, with support from management and senior colleagues as needed.

Key responsibilities include:

• Gather, analyze, and document business needs through stakeholder discussions, working sessions, and review of existing processes and systems.

• Translate business requests into actionable user stories, business rules, process flows, data requirements, and testable acceptance criteria.

• Analyze current and proposed workflows to identify gaps, manual effort, exceptions, and opportunities for improvement.

• Understand how information moves between systems and assess how changes affect users, business processes, and downstream applications.

• Partner with product owners, developers, testers, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and build a shared understanding of expected behavior.

• Support backlog refinement and prioritization by identifying business value, dependencies, open questions, and scope considerations.

• Maintain requirements traceability and assess the impact of changes throughout delivery.

• Develop test scenarios, facilitate user acceptance testing, and document results to confirm solutions meet business needs.

• Support production issue investigation by documenting business impact, reproducing scenarios, and helping validate fixes.

• Contribute to implementation readiness through process documentation, stakeholder communication, and support for training needs.
