Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms.
Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely. Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
Performs and monitors patient progress and response to services.
Assess patients and makes appropriate recommendations based on outcomes with regard to therapeutic interventions.
Performs invasive and non-invasive therapeutic/diagnostic modalities. Procedure/services performed are according to department policy and procedure.
Correctly records all information in the patient legal record and maintains department records. Hand-off of care performed using the SBAR model.
Educates patients on their disease state, wellness, home care modalities and safety.
Minimum Required: High School Diploma or GED. Must be actively enrolled in a respiratory program.
Must have student licensure. Current license or permit to practice respiratory care issued by the respective state.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Must be able to apply cardiopulmonary knowledge and skills appropriate to patient diagnosis
