The Area Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all business unit activity at the location(s) including receiving, storage, blending, and distribution of agricultural inputs, feed manufacturing and distribution, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. This position also focuses on financial performance, inventory management, equipment performance, and process efficiency while driving team development, operational excellence, and strong customer service throughout peak seasonal demands.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Leadership and Performance - Lead daily grain, agronomy, and/or feed operations to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent execution while meeting productivity, quality, and customer service expectations. Coordinate operational planning, staffing, scheduling, and logistics to support seasonal demands, maximize workflow efficiency, and ensure timely inbound and outbound product movement. Monitor operational performance, resolve issues and customer escalations, and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve overall operational effectiveness. Collaborate with sales, transportation, and cross-functional teams to align operational execution with customer needs and business objectives.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance - Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable OSHA, EPA, HACCP, DOT, and environmental regulations through regular audits, inspections, training, and enforcement of safe work practices. Foster a proactive safety culture by reinforcing accountability, identifying risks, investigating incidents, and implementing corrective actions to minimize operational hazards.

Inventory and Product Stewardship - Oversee inventory accuracy, product storage, handling, blending, manufacturing, and stewardship to maintain quality standards, regulatory compliance, and product availability. Ensure facilities maintain accurate inventories and operational controls that support efficient product movement and customer fulfillment.

Engagement and Employee Development -Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for operational employees through hiring, onboarding, training, goal setting, accountability, and continuous development to build a high-performing team.

Financial Management and Asset Reliability - Support annual budgeting, forecasting, labor planning, and operational cost management by monitoring key performance indicators and identifying opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Oversee facility, fleet, and equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, capital improvement planning, and asset utilization to maximize reliability, minimize downtime, extend asset life, and protect company investments.
