M73 - Full Stack Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Full-Stack Engineer to design, develop, and maintain production-grade applications supporting government operations.

You will initially work on an AI-enabled platform focused on high-volume document processing, with opportunities to contribute to other projects as business priorities evolve.

The ideal candidate possesses strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience with modern full-stack technologies, and the ability to learn and adapt quickly.

This position is open to both mid-level and senior-level engineers, with responsibilities and technical ownership aligned to experience.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Stack Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications, backend APIs, background jobs, and database models.
• Build responsive frontend applications using React, TypeScript, and modern web technologies.
• Develop reliable backend services and APIs using Node.js.
• Translate business requirements and operational workflows into secure, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.
• Support system integrations, including APIs connecting to other government platforms and services.

AI Integration & Automation

• Integrate AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), computer vision, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR), into applications.
• Develop AI-enabled features with appropriate error handling, performance monitoring, and cost optimisation.
• Ensure the reliability, accuracy, and quality of AI-generated outputs.

Software Engineering & DevOps

• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and strongly typed code.
• Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD processes.
• Contribute to system architecture discussions, technical design, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot application issues across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and external integrations.
• Support deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production systems.
• Apply secure development practices and maintain application reliability.

Security, Compliance & Production Support

• Maintain and support production applications to ensure stability, security, and performance.
• Support security assessments, including Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT).
• Participate in technical audits and compliance reviews.
• Investigate and remediate security vulnerabilities, audit findings, and production incidents.
• Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Technical Leadership (Senior-Level Responsibilities)
• Lead the design and implementation of complex system components.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Evaluate architectural approaches and recommend solutions based on scalability, maintainability, performance, and security.
• Promote engineering best practices across development teams.

Requirements

• Proven experience in full-stack software development, building and maintaining production applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with React, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Proficiency in developing RESTful APIs and working with relational databases.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, system design principles, and technical trade-offs.
• Good understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming, event loops, and race conditions.
• Experience with automated testing, version control, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, including containers, managed services, object storage, and message queues.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across applications, APIs, networks, and external services.
• Understanding of software security, application performance, and production reliability.
• Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an agile environment.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving project requirements.

Good to Have

• Experience integrating AI/ML services or LLM APIs into production applications.
• Familiarity with AI integration concepts such as rate limiting, retries, token management, prompt versioning, and output evaluation.
• Exposure to AI agents, agentic workflows, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or similar frameworks.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Go, C#, or Java.
• Experience working with the Singapore Government Tech Stack (SGTS).
• Familiarity with observability tools and practices, including logging, monitoring, metrics, and distributed tracing.
• Understanding of secure software development and sensitive data handling.
• Experience supporting mission-critical or high-availability systems.
• Experience preparing technical documentation, architecture decision records, and operational runbooks.
