Maintenance Mechanic

Summary

Maintains and repairs industrial machinery, performs electrical troubleshooting, and fabricates equipment in a manufacturing plant.

SUMMARY:

Installs and repairs mechanical systems, apparatus, electrical troubleshooting of industrial machinery, and equipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Works at following and promoting company safety rules and policies and following accepted safe work practices.
  2. Safely operate forklifts to move equipment and materials to and from the production areas, scales, warehouse, ect.
  3. Safely operate the man-lift and observe weight and height limits.
  4. Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, and motors and position sensing devices.
  5. Installs new pumps, motors and various other production equipment
  6. Know the proper use of voltage testing equipment.
  7. Start devices to test their performance.
  8. Set up and operate drill press, hydraulic press and cut off saw. Use various other hand and shop tools to make and repair parts and equipment.
  9. Fabricate new equipment or modify existing equipment to meet production requirements.
  10. Possess essential mechanical skills to be able to trouble shoot equipment malfunctions and to be able to make proper repairs.
  11. Perform electrical preventative maintenance on extrusion equipment and other related fields as needed.
  12. Know the basic extrusion process and assist the production department in all aspects of PVC pipe manufacture.
  13. Supply your own hand tools.
  14. Communicate well with other employees and operators to determine repair problems needed.
  15. Assist other employees when needed and work successfully in a self-managed work team.
  16. Be a self starter and perform duties with little direct supervision.
  17. Attend required training sessions, wear the required safety equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and other safety equipment that might be required for certain jobs or tasks.
  18. Be willing to learn new tasks and take on individual responsibilities.
  19. Be willing to be on call.
