Role Responsibilities:
Carry out in-house inspections, routine maintenance, and preventative and reactive maintenance of laboratory and plant equipment.
Undertake fault-finding of equipment and building-related issues.
Schedule and coordinate planned preventative maintenance (PPM) checks in line with the site maintenance schedule.
Assist with compliance-related checks, including Legionella flushing and associated temperature checks, emergency light testing, and fire door and fire equipment inspections.
Assist with face velocity and local exhaust ventilation (LEV) checks, supporting the site’s LEV competent person.
Assist with PUWER and LOLER-related inspections as and when required.
Produce, review and update in-house Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relevant to the role.
Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers and contractors to troubleshoot issues that cannot be resolved in-house, ensuring timely resolution.
Organise on-site engineer visits as required, hosting engineers and ensuring safe systems of work are followed throughout.
Maintaining the highest standards of health and safety and complying with all relevant Sygnature policies and procedures.
Peeping equipment records and SOPs accurate and up to date.
Skills & Qualifications:
GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
Previous experience working in a laboratory or scientific environment is essential.
Experience of maintaining mechanical and/or electrical plant and equipment, ideally within a regulated or scientific setting.
Experience of fault-finding and troubleshooting equipment issues, including liaison with external engineers and suppliers.
Strong practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with scientific staff, contractors and manufacturers.
Well organised, with the ability to manage a varied workload and competing priorities independently.
A methodical and safety-conscious approach to work.
Reporting hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, or any concerns as well as opportunities for improvements as soon as possible in line with local procedures.
