Manager Equipment Disposition

The Equipment Manager is responsible for leading the Southeast Asia Equipment team and ensuring the effective availability, positioning, utilisation and control of container equipment across the Area.
The position oversees Equipment Flow Execution, Portfolio Management and Equipment Steering, ensuring that equipment supply supports commercial demand and operational requirements while controlling repositioning, storage and handling costs.

Team Leadership and Functional Management

  • Lead, coach and develop the Equipment team, setting clear responsibilities, objectives and performance expectations.
  • Ensure effective coordination between Flow Execution & Portfolio Management and Flow Planning & Steering.
  • Establish clear operating routines, decision rights, escalation channels and team coverage.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure timely closure of agreed actions.

Flow Execution & Portfolio Management

  • Ensure approved stock-feeding, evacuation and repositioning plans are executed effectively.
  • Monitor planned versus actual equipment movements and address execution shortfalls, rollovers and operational constraints.
  • Maximize the use of available vessel, feeder, barge, rail and trucking capacity for empty evacuation.
  • Maintain oversight of equipment inventory by country, location, size, type and operational status.
  • Monitor minimum, maximum and target stock levels and initiate corrective action for shortages, surpluses and imbalances.
  • Manage ageing, long-stay, idle and non-productive equipment in cooperation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Improve equipment utilization, box turn time, depot release performance and overall portfolio productivity.

Flow Planning & Steering

  • Lead short- and medium-term equipment planning and steering across Southeast Asia.
  • Oversee Satellite Container Flow Planning and ensure alignment with Area and Regional equipment priorities.
  • Translate commercial forecasts, booking trends and network developments into equipment supply, evacuation and repositioning plans.
  • Review and challenge forecast assumptions and equipment requirements submitted by countries and commercial teams.
  • Prioritize equipment allocation during shortages based on customer, commercial and operational requirements.
  • Assess the equipment impact of vessel delays, blank sailings, port omissions, service changes and seasonal demand.
  • Coordinate equipment movements and steering decisions with Regional and Global Equipment teams.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of steering actions and adjust plans as operating conditions change.


Regional Reporting, Governance and Performance Management

  • Act as the main Southeast Asia contact for reporting and coordination with the Regional Equipment function
  • Submit accurate and timely Regional reports covering stock development, forecast performance, fulfilment, imbalance, repositioning and execution.
  • Provide clear commentary on performance variances, operational risks, corrective actions and expected recovery.
  • Escalate significant shortages, surpluses, execution failures, cost exposure and network constraints to the Region.
  • Ensure Regional steering instructions, targets and governance requirements are implemented across Southeast Asia.
  • Maintain consistent KPI definitions, data standards, reporting templates and action trackers.
  • Lead regular performance reviews with Area and Regional stakeholders.
  • Drive reporting automation, data accuracy and improved management visibility.

Cost and Continuous Improvement

  • Control empty repositioning, storage, handling, depot and inland movement costs.
  • Monitor expenditure against budget and explain material cost variances.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary repositioning, duplicated handling and prolonged storage.
  • Support supplier-performance management and operational input into depot and transport arrangements.
  • Standardize equipment processes and promote automation, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Operations Management, Business Administration or a related field.

  • 7-10 years of experience in equipment management, logistics, or container shipping operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role

  • Strong knowledge of container equipment flows, portfolio management, stock balancing and empty repositioning.

  • Good understanding of liner-shipping networks, vessel capacity, ports, terminals and depot operations.

  • Strong forecasting, planning and analytical capability.

  • Ability to interpret booking trends, stock development, flow plans and operational performance data.

  • Strong reporting skills, including performance analysis, variance commentary and management presentations.

  • Proficiency in equipment management systems, reporting tools and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong leadership, stakeholder-management, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Strong written and spoken English.
