Manager Financial Business Management

Position Summary

The Joint Venture Business Manager provides strategic, financial, and operational leadership for Deaconess Health System's portfolio of joint ventures. This role partners with physician investors, administrators, operational leaders, and governing boards to ensure financial performance, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth across joint venture entities.

The Business Manager serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and physician partners while supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing management of initiatives that advance the Deaconess Joint Venture strategy. This position is part of the Joint Ventures leadership team and supports multiple entities across the Deaconess market footprint.

Essential Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

· Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets.

· Monitor financial performance and key financial indicators.

· Analyze monthly financial statements and prepare executive summaries for leadership and governing boards.

· Identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and return on investment.

· Assist with valuation analyses, business planning, pro formas, and growth initiatives.

· Collaborate with finance teams on forecasting, budgeting, and variance analyses.

Joint Venture Operations

· Provide coordination of business operations across multiple joint venture entities.

· Monitor operational metrics including case volumes, revenue, supply costs, and staffing effectiveness

· Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, patient experience, and financial performance.

· Ensure operational consistency and standardization across venture locations when appropriate.

· Support implementation of new ventures, service expansions, and strategic projects.

· Work with other Deaconess departments to track POs and Invoices to track accuracy

Physician & Partner Relations

· Build and maintain effective working relationships with physician partners and hospital leadership.

· Serve as a primary business resource for physician investors regarding financial performance.

· Facilitate collaboration between physicians, administrators, supply chain teams, finance departments, and clinical leadership.

· Support physician engagement initiatives and strategic planning discussions.

Governance & Board Administration

· Prepare analysis of financial reports for board presentations.

· Present operational and financial performance updates to physician and executive leadership.

Strategic Growth & Development

· Conduct market assessments and business analyses supporting growth initiatives.

· Support due diligence activities, contract reviews, and implementation planning for new ventures.

· Design and run proforma for new ventures.

Compliance & Risk Management

· Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, venture agreements, and organizational policies.

· Collaborate with compliance, legal, finance, and operational teams to mitigate risks.

· Support internal and external audits as required.

· Monitor contractual obligations and ensure timely reporting requirements are met.

Data Analytics & Performance Management

· Develop and maintain dashboards and performance reporting tools.

· Analyze operational and financial trends and recommend actions based on findings.

· Monitor key performance indicators related to quality, growth, supply expense management, and financial performance.

· Utilize data to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

Education

· Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field required.

· Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or related field) preferred.

Experience

· Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, physician practices, service line administration, joint ventures, finance, or related healthcare business environments.

· Experience working directly with physicians, executives, and governing boards preferred.

· Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, project management, and operational leadership required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Strong understanding of healthcare finance and joint venture business models.

· Knowledge of ambulatory surgery center operations and physician alignment strategies.

· Advanced financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills.

· Ability to interpret and present complex financial and operational data.

· Strong executive presentation and communication skills.

· Exceptional relationship-building capabilities with physicians and senior leaders.

· Strategic thinking with the ability to execute it operationally.

· High level of professionalism, discretion, and business acumen.

· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and presentation software.
