Manager, Government Relations

Position Summary

The Manager, Government Relations will serve as Vertiv's primary liaison with federal and state government entities in Mexico, playing a critical role in advocating for the company's policy and commercial interests. This position functions as a strategic enabler and problem solver — building and leveraging high-level diplomatic relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, and industry associations to facilitate business operations, secure incentives, and influence policy outcomes favorable to Vertiv's growth in Mexico.

Government Relations & Diplomatic Engagement

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key government stakeholders at federal and state levels across Mexico
  • Represent Vertiv in diplomatic settings, presenting the company's value proposition as a leading American AI infrastructure company investing in Mexico's future
  • Navigate bilateral Mexico-USA relations through participation in organizations such as the US-Mexico Council and similar forums
  • Act as a diplomatic liaison for foreign affairs matters (Relaciones Exteriores) impacting Vertiv's operations

Lobbying, Advocacy & Policy Influence

  • Lead lobbying efforts to influence policies, regulations, and legislation that impact Vertiv's business operations in Mexico
  • Proactively advocate for favorable trade frameworks
  • Influence policy outcomes for Vertiv's Compliance teams — acting as a policy shaper rather than a policy taker
  • Present Vertiv's challenges and opportunities in government forums to accelerate solutions and favorable outcomes

Commercial Enablement & Incentives

  • Facilitate resolution of commercial challenges with government entities
  • Partner with Sales teams (working alongside commercial leaders) to facilitate government-related barriers to business
  • Guide internal teams on certification processes and government requirements

Industry Engagement & Trade Associations

  • Actively participate and represent Vertiv in trade associations, industry associations, chambers of commerce, and bilateral business councils
  • Leverage chamber and association memberships to facilitate government interventions on behalf of Vertiv
  • Build coalitions with industry peers to advance shared policy interests
  • Stay current on Mexico's political landscape, regulatory changes, and government priorities

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate regulatory, legislative, and political developments to internal stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, Sales, and Operations
  • Prepare briefing materials, reports, and presentations on government relations activities and political risk assessments
  • Coordinate with the Public Relations team (note: this role is NOT media-facing or sales-oriented — it is focused on government and institutional relationships)
  • Support the broader Government Relations team on cross-border and Americas-wide initiatives

This role is not:

  • A Public Relations / Media role (no press or media responsibilities)
  • A Sales role (though it enables commercial outcomes)
  • A passive compliance/regulatory monitoring role — this is an active influence and lobbying position

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in government relations, government affairs, lobbying, public policy, or diplomatic roles in Mexico
  • Demonstrated network of relationships with Mexican government officials at federal and state levels
  • Deep understanding of Mexico's regulatory processes, government structures, and political landscape
  • Proven experience in lobbying and policy negotiation with measurable outcomes
  • Strong diplomatic skills — ability to navigate complex political situations with tact and professionalism
  • Strong sales-oriented mindset — ability to sell Vertiv's value proposition to government stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English
  • Proactive, decisive, and able to work independently across a broad variety of subjects
  • Strong detail orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented; able to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Resourceful problem solver with ability to manage complex, sensitive situations and confidential information
