About the Role:
Reporting to the VP, Payroll & Benefits this position would be responsible for overseeing full cycle payroll & benefits for OEG’s Sports & Entertainment in Canada.
Your Focus in this Role:
- Responsible for and oversee full payroll cycle including processing, posting to the GL, reconciliations, variance analysis, as well as some benefit administration.
- Responsible for ensuring payroll functions are delivered consistently and effectively to salaried and hourly staff, across multiple jurisdictions in Canada.
- Building, creating, and developing adequate processes, procedures and financial controls within the payroll department and ensure they are functioning, maintained, and monitored to minimize risk and error as well as compliance.
- Implementing processes to ensure the accuracy and maintenance of all employee data and payment records. Ensuring data protection measures are in place to safeguard employee information.
- Providing leadership, guidance, training, and mentor team members. Foster a positive, engaging and growth-orientated work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, collaboration, and employee development.
- Performs calendar year-end related activities, including updating taxable benefits, producing T4’s.
- Responsible for accurate tax payment for all payroll activities which requires a thorough understanding of all compliance regulations for all tax agencies.
- Manage year end audit, including month end and year end closing accruals and account reconciliation.
- Additional duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Skills:
- Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
- 5+ years of experience in processing full cycle payroll
- Extensive working knowledge of payroll, HRIS systems is preferred, experience with UKG and Great Plains would be an asset
- Capable of handling confidential, sensitive and personal information
- Strong planning and organization skills to determine priorities with strict deadlines
- Well organized with superior attention to detail
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office; including advanced Excel
