Manager Quality and Safety

We’re searching for a Manager of Quality and Safety, someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you’ll provide formal leadership to staff and informal leadership to the medical staff, hospital leadership and others by contributing to and maintaining continuity in the planning, development and implementation of the quality and safety program.

We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in safety science, including event analysis, proactive risk identification, high reliability, and building a culture of safety. The ideal candidate is a strong and effective leader who can develop others, influence across disciplines, and bring people together around a shared commitment to safer care. This role requires a system-wide perspective, with the ability to lead patient safety priorities across a complex organization and translate data and safety intelligence into meaningful, sustained improvement. Success will depend on building strong partnerships with clinical, operational, and administrative leaders across the organization. The Quality and Safety Manager will also help connect our work to national patient safety organizations, regulatory expectations, and leading practices, including partnerships with SPS and engagement with organizations such as The Joint Commission and Vizient.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partners with staff, medical staff, and hospital leadership to ensure excellence in the performance improvement, patient safety, and outcomes management programs as evidenced by improved outcomes, decreased preventable harm and advancement in the organizations culture of safety
  • Creates and facilitates collaboration and cooperation among diverse groups, people and professional disciplines to achieve the desired results in improving patient care and safety
  • Coaches, develops and manages staff to assure continual refinement and development of new skills related to performance improvement, safety and leadership
  • Demonstrates project management skills as evidenced by the utilization of appropriate methodology, analysis and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrates astute fiscal accountability as evidenced by the management and justification of resources, which may include personnel, equipment, and supplies

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare-related field required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • RN – Lic-Registered Nurses by Texas Board of Nursing or State Licensure Compact required
  • CPHQ – Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality or PMP - Project Management Professional certification preferred
  • 4 years of experience in clinical, education, or performance improvement/data analytics required
  • 2 years of management experience preferred
  • Patient safety experience preferred
