Role purpose:
Reporting to the EHOD National Sales, supports execution of Safaricom Ethiopia commercial, acquisition, distribution and M-PESA growth plans within an assigned cluster or defined sales territory. The role implements agreed market penetration activities, supports distributor, merchant, agent, sub-agent and SSO performance, ensures product and float availability, and contributes to customer acquisition, revenue growth and customer experience within defined guidance and escalation paths.
Key accountabilities
Sales execution and revenue growth
Execute approved cluster-level sales and acquisition plans against agreed targets.
Support local market penetration campaigns, trade activities and customer acquisition initiatives.
Track daily and weekly sales, usage, acquisition and distribution performance and escalate gaps.
Support revenue growth across mobile, M-PESA, device sales and assigned propositions.
Distribution, merchant, agent and SSO management
Support distributors, merchants, agents, sub-agents, SSOs and field teams to maintain product and float availability.
Conduct regular field visits to monitor route coverage, stock, branding, pricing and service quality.
Follow up with distributor staff, supervisors, TDRs, merchants and agents to close performance gaps.
Escalate non-conformities and operational challenges through agreed channels.
- M-PESA growth and payment adoption
Support merchant acquisition, activation, float availability, active usage and transaction growth initiatives.
Monitor merchant, agent and customer usage data to identify low-activity outlets and support corrective actions.
Assist in coordinating M-PESA training, awareness and trade engagement activities.
Ensure merchants and agents understand service standards, float requirements and customer education expectations.
- Field team coordination and capability building
Supervise assigned field teams or distributor resources where applicable.
Provide daily coaching and follow-up on sales execution standards.
Support training activities for merchants, agents and distributor teams.
Promote adherence to merchandising, RED/PICOS, branding, pricing and customer experience standards.
- Market intelligence and customer experience
Collect competitor, customer and trade feedback from assigned territory.
Support customer education activities and local trade events.
Identify underperforming merchants, agents or routes and recommend improvement actions.
Contribute to improving NPS, customer confidence and service availability.

- M-PESA Merchant Acquisition – number of active merchants onboarded and transacting within the assigned cluster
- M-PESA Transaction Growth – monthly growth in transaction count, transaction value, and active payment users
- M-PESA Float Availability – consistent merchant and agent float availability to support payment transactions and customer usage
- M-PESA Agent and Merchant Productivity – transaction activity per merchant, agent, and active trade outlet
- M-PESA Customer Education and Adoption – customer awareness, payment activation, and repeat usage across priority trade locations

Must have technical / professional qualifications:
Desired
A bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related field.
Proven experience in commercial management and business development roles.
Knowledge of the telecommunications industry, including products, services, and customer behavior.
An MBA degree is preferable in Business Studies.
At least 5 Years of sales / trade execution within FMCG / Telecom industry Environment.
Proactive, confident, energetic, and able to work under pressure.
