About The Role

FTI Consulting is looking for a talented professional at the Managing Director level to join its Valuations Advisory team. As a key member, you will be an integral part of this fast-growing practice.

FTI Consulting has a dedicated team of valuation specialists who provide valuations of businesses, intangible assets, and other financial assets for taxation, strategy, regulatory, M&A, accounting, and litigation purposes. In Australia, the Valuations Advisory team works closely with FTI Consulting colleagues nationally and globally.

You will report to the Senior Managing Director of the Valuations Advisory team.

Your primary focus will be engagement oversight, team development, business development, and practice growth.

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership & Business Development

  • Revenue Generation: Meet firm targets for new business origination.

  • Market Presence: Thought leader through publishing and speaking.

  • Client Networking: Build relationships with lawyers, accounting firms and corporates.

  • Cross-Selling: Promote FTI Consulting's other services.

Practice Management & Operations

  • Profitability: Manage realisation rates, project margins, billings and collections.

  • Talent Development: Mentor directors, senior consultants, and consultants for succession planning.

  • Resource Allocation: Assign staffing to maximise utilisation and project efficiency.

  • Culture Leadership: Drive a collaborative, ethical, and high-performance work environment.

Quality Control & Risk Management

  • Technical Sign-off: Serve as the final reviewer on valuation reports.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to APES, IVS, IFRS/AASB and ASIC Regulatory guides.

  • Risk Mitigation: Manage engagement risk, conflict checks, and liability exposure.

What You Need to Succeed

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 12–15+ years in business valuation or corporate finance, including experience in business and/or intangible asset valuations

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related disciplines

  • Strong understanding of and interest in, valuations and corporate finance - Experience in writing reports

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle and analyse complex financial information

  • Experience in leading small teams

  • Ability to work on multiple client matters at one time

  • Strong work ethic and integrity, and high level of professionalism

  • Willingness to travel for work

Compensation

Minimum Pay: $220,000

Maximum Pay: $280,000

Compensation Disclosure: The compensation range reflects potential base salary for the role. Actual compensation is determined based on a wide array of relevant factors including market considerations, business needs, and an individual’s location, skills, level of experience, and qualifications.
