We’re searching for a Manufacturing CFO Consultant to join our team. This position is responsible for leading, managing, and growing advisory services for manufacturing companies, with an initial focus on building out a fractional CFO service offering for clients and prospects. This role combines expertise in manufacturing finance and accounting with strategic consulting skills to help manufacturing companies optimize their financial operations and decision-making processes.

This is a fully remote position, with preference given to candidates located in the southeastern United States. Work hours will be in the eastern time zone.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Strategic Financial Advisory & Manufacturing Expertise

  • Provide strategic financial leadership to manufacturing clients to help maximize profitability and improve business performance.
  • Analyze financial performance, trends, and forecasts to support data-driven decision-making, identify value-added service opportunities, and enhance client satisfaction.
  • Develop client and firm initiatives to track and deliver appropriate financial planning and analysis (FP&A) results by sector and region.
  • Advise clients on inventory management, ERP integration, supply chain optimization, business value efficiency, and mergers and acquisitions using manufacturing industry best practices.
  • Design and implement robust internal controls and compliance frameworks tailored to manufacturing clients, ensuring adherence to applicable accounting standards.
  • Develop forward-looking financial strategies, forecasts, and models that provide actionable insights and drive sustainable business growth.

Technology, Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Leverage accounting and non-accounting software to optimize processes, streamline workflows, and enhance client deliverables.
  • Develop departmental resources, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and team capabilities.
  • Identify inefficiencies, reduce costs without sacrificing quality, and implement best practices to streamline financial processes.
  • Participate in firmwide projects and committees focused on improving internal and external processes.

Client & Engagement Management

  • Serve as an escalation point for accounting and manufacturing-related client inquiries, issues, and recommendations.
  • Manage the lifecycle of projects, client engagements, business operations, and/or team members in accordance with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Prepare and issue accurate, timely client invoices based on agreed-upon terms and services.

Quality, Compliance & Operational Excellence

  • Oversee work performed by offshore teams to ensure firm quality standards and expectations are met.
  • Perform final technical quality-control reviews of workpapers and other engagement deliverables.
  • Meet firm requirements for training, continuing education, productivity, and utilization.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and transparent reporting to executives, the board, and external stakeholders to support informed decision-making and trust.

Business Development & Practice Growth

  • Engage in the strategic vision and growth of the firm's manufacturing advisory services.
  • Establish industry-focused business development standards and strategies to increase leads and acquire prospective clients.
  • Partner with firm management to lead and monitor performance goals, including chargeable hours, growth, profitability, and innovation.

Team Development, Recruiting & Education

  • Contribute to interviews and recruiting events as a representative of the department.
  • Assist in developing, preparing, and delivering internal and external continuing education.
  • Support the development of departmental resources that strengthen team skills and capabilities.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing accounting or finance.
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with one or more common manufacturing ERP software solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and experience incorporating AI tools into professional work.
  • Excellent decision-making skills with a proven record of making well informed decisions.
  • Excellent aptitude for collaboration with peers during decision-making, planning, and execution phases.
  • Excellent aptitude in information processing, creative thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to be proficient in conducting in-depth research to develop technical solutions.
  • Proven track record of successful ERP implementations and supply chain optimizations.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Experience We Will Value:

  • Certified Public Accountant.
  • 3+ years of experience in client management and 7+ years of experience in a supervisory position.
  • Prior experience in public accounting, finance, or another professional services organization.
