Atlas Roofing Roof and Wall Insulation, (a division of Atlas Roofing Corporation), is seeking a Manufacturing Superintendent for the LaGrange, GA. facility.

Position Summary

The Production Superintendent provides overall leadership for production, workforce development, production scheduling support, and receiving operations while partnering closely with the Quality Manager to strengthen process control, quality capability, and long-term continuity of the plant's quality systems. This role translates plant strategy into safe, reliable, and efficient daily execution while building the leadership capability, technical knowledge, and succession pipeline required for long-term plant success. The Superintendent leads through the Production Supervisors and maintains accountability for systems, standards, performance, and employee development rather than relying solely on day-to-day task direction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety and Operational Discipline

· Lead and strengthen a culture in which safety, environmental responsibility, quality, and operational discipline are integrated into every decision and activity.

· Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with company requirements, established procedures, permits, and applicable regulatory standards.

· Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors, ensure timely corrective action, and stop work when necessary to protect people, product, equipment, or the environment.

· Partner with EHS and plant leadership to implement safety initiatives, investigate incidents, verify corrective actions, and reinforce learning across shifts.

Production Leadership and Performance

· Provide leadership and accountability for safe, reliable, and efficient production across all shifts.

· Translate plant goals into clear priorities, operating expectations, and measurable commitments for Production Supervisors and operating teams.

· Monitor and improve key performance indicators, including safety, quality, throughput, waste, downtime, process capability, labor effectiveness, and schedule attainment.

· Use data, structured problem solving, and root-cause analysis to identify constraints, establish action plans, assign ownership, and verify sustained results.

· Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, work systems, standard work, housekeeping, reliability, cost, and customer service.

· Coordinate priorities and escalation across Production, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, Scheduling, Receiving, Shipping, and other support functions.

· Provide coverage for the Plant Manager when assigned.

Quality and Process-Control Partnership

· Develop and maintain sufficient knowledge of the plant's quality-management and process-control systems to support production decisions, reinforce quality expectations, and assume broader quality responsibilities as assigned by the Plant Manager.

· Partner with the Quality Manager to ensure production leaders and employees understand product specifications, process controls, inspection requirements, documentation expectations, and appropriate escalation procedures.

· Support timely response to process deviations, nonconforming product, customer concerns, and recurring quality losses, including participation in root-cause analysis and corrective-action follow-up.

· Coordinate with the Quality Manager and Corporate Technical on trials, new products, process changes, raw-material changes, formulations, specifications, and other quality-related improvements affecting production.

· Reinforce accountability within Production for operating within established specifications, completing required checks accurately, and escalating quality or process concerns promptly.

· Partner with the Quality Manager to strengthen the capability, cross-training, qualification, and knowledge retention of QC personnel and production leaders to support continuity of the plant's quality systems.

· Communicate significant quality, technical, or process risks to the Quality Manager, Plant Manager, and other appropriate stakeholders.

People Leadership, Coaching, and Succession

· Directly lead, coach, and develop Production Supervisors, the Production Scheduler, and the Receiver; establish clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and hold leaders accountable for results and leadership behaviors.

· Build supervisor capability in communication, employee relations, performance management, problem solving, decision-making, shift ownership, and consistent application of policies and standards.

· Partner with Human Resources and plant leadership in workforce planning, selection, onboarding, performance management, recognition, corrective action, and other employee matters.

· Maintain succession plans for critical leadership and technical roles; identify high-potential employees and create practical development experiences that prepare them for broader responsibility.

· Promote a respectful, inclusive, and accountable work environment in which employees understand expectations, receive timely coaching, and have opportunities to grow.

· Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, leadership reviews, and talent discussions to monitor development commitments and organizational readiness.

Training Strategy, Qualification, and Knowledge Retention

· Own the plant training and qualification strategy for production-related roles, including onboarding, cross-training, refresher training, advancement pathways, and leader development.

· Ensure role-specific training requirements, qualification standards, assessments, trainers, records, and requalification expectations are defined, current, and consistently applied.

· Build and maintain training matrices that identify coverage, proficiency, vulnerabilities, and priorities by role and shift.

· Ensure standard operating procedures, job aids, troubleshooting knowledge, and critical process knowledge are documented, controlled, taught, and transferred before retirements, promotions, transfers, or staffing changes create gaps.

· Partner with subject-matter experts to convert experience-based knowledge into repeatable standards and effective learning materials.

· Assess training effectiveness through observation, demonstrated competency, performance results, and follow-up coaching rather than attendance alone.

Production Scheduling Support

· Provide leadership support to the Production Scheduler and ensure effective coordination between the production schedule and operating capability.

· Maintain sufficient knowledge of scheduling systems, constraints, priorities, and communication requirements to serve as the designated backup when the Production Scheduler is unavailable.

· Partner with the Production Scheduler to evaluate capacity, operating constraints, changeover impacts, staffing considerations, and schedule risks; communicate issues and recommended tradeoffs to the Plant Manager and affected functions.

· The Production Scheduler retains primary responsibility for developing and maintaining the production schedule.

Receiving Leadership

· Provide leadership and performance oversight for the Receiver, including safety, accuracy, documentation, communication, housekeeping, and adherence to established receiving procedures.

· Coordinate receiving priorities and issue resolution with Purchasing, Quality, Production, Accounting, and other appropriate functions without assuming responsibility for raw-material purchasing or inventory-control ownership.

General Responsibilities

· Maintain regular and consistent attendance and availability appropriate to a multi-shift manufacturing operation.

· Occasionally travel to other plants, corporate offices, customers, vendors, seminars, meetings, or training events.

· Perform other related duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises the Production Supervisors, Production Scheduler, and Receiver. Provides indirect leadership for production employees across all shifts. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, applicable requirements, and the expectations established by the Plant Manager.

· Bachelor degree in engineering, operations, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant manufacturing leadership experience may be considered.

· Five or more years of progressive manufacturing experience, including meaningful leadership responsibility in a multi-shift operation.

· Demonstrated experience leading supervisors or other frontline leaders and developing employee capability.

· Experience with quality systems, process control, training systems, continuous improvement, and data-based problem solving strongly preferred.

· Knowledge of OSHA, environmental, and other manufacturing compliance requirements appropriate to the operation preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Strong leadership presence with the ability to set expectations, coach constructively, address performance issues, and build trust across functions and shifts.

· Ability to think strategically while maintaining disciplined follow-through on daily operating fundamentals.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret operating data, identify trends, prioritize risk, and verify results.

· Working knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, process controls, standard work, training and qualification methods, and continuous improvement principles.

· Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, specifications, procedures, and technical documents and to write clear reports and correspondence.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with hourly employees, leaders, technical resources, customers, and corporate partners.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable enterprise, timekeeping, production, scheduling, and reporting systems.

· Ability to learn quickly, retain and transfer information, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing business needs.

· Valid driver license.
