Marine Sales Engineer / Executive

Summary

Sells marine engines and power systems by analyzing specs, proposing solutions, and managing key accounts while expanding regional market coverage.

Role Summary

We are seeking a driven Marine Sales Engineer to join our high-performing marine desk. In this role, you will work closely with Sales Managers to manage key accounts.

While account management is a vital component, your primary focus will be market expansion – hunting for new sales opportunities and expanding our territorial coverage. This role requires a measured, clinical approach to consultative selling, where technical edge and analytical problem-solving are just as important as relationship building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Market Expansion: Proactively identify, qualify, and pursue new sales opportunities across the marine sector, expanding our footprint and market share.

  • Key Account Management: Maintain and deepen strong, trusted relationships with our existing portfolio of established maritime customers.

  • Technical Consultation: Analyze customer requirements, read technical specifications, and provide consultative advice and precise product recommendations for marine engines and power systems.

  • Commercial Execution: Prepare accurate technical and commercial proposals, costings, quotations, and comprehensive tender documents.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal engineering teams to design bespoke technical solutions for complex requirements, while also aligning with the service and logistics departments to ensure seamless project delivery.

  • Market Intelligence: Actively monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market shifts.

  • Regional Engagement: Travel regionally at least once a quarter, or as required, to advance on-the-ground inquiries.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • Experience: A minimum of 2+ years of proven experience in the marine industry, with a strong preference for candidates who have a background in marine engines, propulsion, or related heavy equipment sales.

  • Education: A Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.

  • Professional Traits: We are looking for an analytical and measured professional who approaches sales clinically. You must be relentless in pursuing goals, detail-oriented in your technical proposals, and possess a track record of stability and long-term commitment in your previous roles.

  • Technical Edge: Ability to bridge the gap between complex engineering concepts and commercial value propositions.

  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders ranging from shipyard engineers to C-level executives.
