Market Director of Patient Safety
The Patient Safety Director will have primary oversight of the market-wide patient safety program. This leadership role will direct others within the facility towards process improvements to support the reduction of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. This practitioner provides leadership for safety assessments, coordinates the activities of the patient safety function or committee, educates other practitioners on the system-based cause for medical errors, consults with management and staff, and communicates literature-based ideas regarding effective patient safety strategies to others within the organization.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or inpatient related field in a hospital/healthcare setting. Completion of patient safety curriculum either through ASHRM, NPSF, AHA, IHI, or another academic provider within 1 year of hire date
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master’s in Nursing, Health Services, or Patient Safety preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 7 years combined experience in clinical practice, management or administration in healthcare setting required. 5 years in direct patient care and 3 years in Quality/Risk/Patient Safety
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 5 years of facilitation of performance improvement programs.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: CPHRM or CPPS Certification or eligible to take the exam within two years of employment
