Material Expediter
Prime Response, Inc. (PRI) is seeking a Material Expediter to support logistics, shipping, and material handling operations for the US Air Force and US Navy at Joint Base Charleston. This role is critical to ensuring the timely movement, tracking, and processing of materials in support of mission requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Locate, move, and distribute materials and parts to meet operational schedules and priorities
- Perform industrial and material handling actions
for materials being processed, including movement by hand or industrial truck,
and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. in accordance with OSHA and NIOSH
regulations
- Receive, inspect, and process inbound shipments from depots, GSA, vendors and base agencies
- Offloading trucks using forklifts and manual lifting to position materials for customer pickup
- Safely building pallets for transportation to customers and DLA, including hand loading pallets with materials and wrapping as necessary
- Verify shipment accuracy and resolve discrepancies (overages, shortages, damages, or delays)
- Process and track high-priority shipments and sensitive items in accordance with regulations
- Maintain accurate inventory and shipment records using government systems
- Assign shipment priorities and coordinate transportation methods to meet delivery requirements
- Perform packaging and preservation of materials in accordance with established procedures
- Operate forklifts and material handling equipment to load, unload, and position materials
- Be certified in and operate up to 10k forklifts
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and follow all safety and operational protocols
- Coordinate with leadership and government personnel to support contract performance and resolve issues
Requirements
- Active Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain/maintain)
- Experience in logistics, supply chain, warehousing, or material handling, preferably in a DoD or regulated environment
- Working knowledge of inventory systems and shipment documentation processes
- Experience with cargo processing, shipping/receiving, and material tracking
- Familiarity with logistics systems (e.g., CMOS, ILS-S, or similar)
- HAZMAT certification (or ability to obtain)
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain and maintain)
- Ability to safely lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds in accordance with OSHA and NIOSH guidelines.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods as required by operational needs.
- Ability to perform a combination of industrial, warehouse, and administrative duties in a dynamic work environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with military and civilian personnel
Additional Requirements
- Comfortable working in industrial, flight line, or logistics settings
- Valid driver’s license (may be required to operate government vehicles)
- Must meet all safety, security, and training requirements for access to a government installation
