About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team and support the safe, efficient and high‑quality delivery of mechanical maintenance and construction activities across site. You will bring strong technical capability, disciplined work habits and a proactive approach to equipment reliability, ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with project requirements, procedures and specifications.

What You’ll Do

  • Mechanical Maintenance — Carry out daily preventive maintenance, inspections and servicing of mechanical systems, rotating equipment and fixed plant.
  • Hydraulic Systems — Diagnose, repair and maintain hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting pressure faults, leaks and component failures.
  • Pump Rebuilds — Strip, assess, rebuild and test pumps and associated assemblies to required tolerances and manufacturer specifications.
  • Emergent/BREAKDOWN Work — Respond to breakdowns and emergent maintenance needs, ensuring safe, timely and effective restoration of equipment.
  • Workpack Execution — Complete all tasks in accordance with approved workpacks, jobcards, drawings, schematics and technical procedures.
  • Safe Work Delivery — Execute all work safely, ensuring no adverse impact to personnel, plant or the environment.
  • Permit to Work — Apply for and work under the correct permits to work (PTW) to ensure controlled and compliant task execution.
  • Risk Assessment — Conduct risk assessments prior to work, identifying hazards and implementing appropriate controls.
  • Multi‑Discipline Collaboration — Work effectively with other trades and contribute within integrated multi‑discipline teams.

Technical Competencies

  • Mechanical fault‑finding on rotating equipment, pumps, valves, gearboxes, hydraulic components and mechanical interfaces.
  • Alignment & tolerances — Use precision tools (DTI, micrometers, verniers, feeler gauges) to achieve correct alignment and fit‑up.
  • Fluid systems — Strong understanding of lubrication systems, seals, bearings, couplings and mechanical drive arrangements.
  • Mechanical isolations — Competent in isolations, lock‑out/tag‑out and safe system of work requirements.
  • Equipment rebuilds — Experience rebuilding motors, gearboxes, actuators, valves and rotating assemblies.
  • Use of diagnostic tools — Familiar with vibration analysis basics, temperature monitoring, leak detection and mechanical condition indicators.

What You’ll Bring

  • QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate – Mechanical Maintenance Fitter (NFQ Level 6) — mandatory – or UK equivalent
  • Qualified Mechanical Tradesperson with proven industrial or energy‑sector experience.
  • CCNSG Safety Passport / Safe Pass.
  • MJI10 / TMJI10 certification.
  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work, mechanical maintenance techniques and equipment reliability principles.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and engineering documentation.
  • A proactive, safety‑driven approach and commitment to delivering high‑quality workmanship.
