- Reports to: Therapeutic Area Head, Oncology

Primary Function / Objective
- Lead the medical team and activities in the responsible therapeutic areas.
- Set and execute Medical Affairs strategies for the responsible therapeutic areas.
- Deliver medical affairs strategies that generate, evaluate, and communicate scientific evidence to support healthcare professionals and patients, aligned with brand/company priorities and governance requirements.
- Recommend staffing levels and team structure, and plan/manage budget within finance guidance.
- Support the Korea Medical Director in building the organization so the medical department is fully integrated with the affiliate business, while remaining functionally independent and compliant.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Fulfill the roles and responsibilities of a medical advisor in the Hematology therapeutic area.
- Develop and execute the annual medical affairs strategy and plans, and contribute to long-range strategic plans.
- Provide scientific, technical, and strategic expertise.
- Lead and manage the medical affairs team, including responsibilities, goals, innovation, and collaborative working.
- Manage the assigned budget.
- Support team development through individualized development plans, training, capability building, and career planning.
- Drive a patient-focused, customer-centric approach.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with key external stakeholders.
- Ensure strong collaborative relationships between field-based medical staff and external experts.
- Build in-field medical capabilities.
- Provide timely technical and scientific support to cross-functional brand teams, HEOR/market access, sales force, and other stakeholders.
- Support evidence generation planning and drive affiliate research studies and global GMA research projects.
- Work with Clinical Operations to optimize implementation and delivery of development research.
- Review and approve promotional and non-promotional materials for medical/scientific accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, codes of conduct, AbbVie policies, and best practices.
- Advanced degree, such as a medical degree or PhD, with relevant specialty experience preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Oncology, 3 years in hematology is the must
- Pharmaceutical industry medical affairs experience
- Experience in pre-launch and launch phases of a new product or indication
- Clinical research experience or knowledge
- Management experience will be plus
- Strong knowledge and experience in the portfolio area
- Proven leadership skills in a cross-functional team environment
- Exceptional communication skills, including ability to interact at senior executive level with internal and external stakeholders
- Highly developed strategic thinking, problem-solving, multitasking, and prioritization skills
- Strong budget planning and management skills
