Medical Assistant - Rheumatology

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Rheumatology team in Allen, TX. The ideal candidate will provide clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the rheumatology practice and deliver exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, medical histories, and documenting symptoms related to rheumatologic conditions.
• Assist rheumatologists during patient exams and procedures, including joint injections and other treatments.
• Perform routine clinical tasks such as drawing blood, collecting lab specimens, and administering medications as directed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Schedule patient appointments, follow up on lab results, and coordinate referrals as needed.
• Educate patients on medication usage, treatment plans, and lifestyle modifications related to rheumatologic diseases.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential is a plus.
• Previous experience in rheumatology or a related specialty is highly desirable.
• Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures related to rheumatology.

Work Environment

This position is based in our Allen, TX clinic. The role involves direct patient interaction and requires standing for extended periods, as well as occasional lifting of medical supplies and equipment.
