About the Opportunity
Our client is hiring a Medical Billing Specialist to support a growing U.S.-based mental health practice. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes to keep the revenue cycle running smoothly and takes pride in resolving billing issues, improving collections, and ensuring claims are processed accurately.
You'll become an important part of a collaborative healthcare team by managing the billing process from claim submission through payment collection while helping maximize the practice's financial performance. Key Responsibilities
Medical Billing & Revenue Cycle Management
- Submit insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Follow up on unpaid, pending, and denied insurance claims.
- Manage Accounts Receivable (A/R) and reduce outstanding balances.
- Contact insurance companies regarding claim status, corrections, and appeals.
- Monitor billing reports and identify opportunities to improve collections.
- Maintain accurate billing records and documentation.
- Help ensure timely reimbursement and consistent revenue collection.
Administrative Support
- Assist with incoming phone calls during overflow periods.
- Support prior authorization requests when needed.
- Help with general administrative tasks during lighter billing periods.
Requirements
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience supporting U.S. healthcare providers.
- Previous experience working remotely or as a Virtual Assistant is preferred but not required.
- No medical degree or healthcare license is required.
- Experience in Psychiatry or Behavioral Health is highly preferred.
- Medical coding experience (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) is a strong advantage.

- Medical billing and insurance claims processing
- Accounts Receivable (A/R) management
- Claims follow-up and denial management
- Insurance eligibility and benefits verification
- Familiarity with U.S. insurance payers and reimbursement processes.
- Comfortable communicating directly with insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Detail-oriented with excellent accuracy.
- Proactive, accountable, and able to take ownership of responsibilities.
- Reliable and able to quickly adapt to existing workflows.
