About Guthrie Corning Hospital:
Join a 65-bed acute care hospital that is recognized nationally as a top place to work, including Modern Healthcare, Forbes, and Newsweek.

Corning Radiation Oncology is a smaller department within the Corning Cancer Center. The department has one linear accelerator, Varian Trilogy that will be replaced later this year with a Varian TrueBeam. We have a full-time radiation oncologist, dosimetrist, dedicated RN, scheduler, and three full-time radiation therapists. On average, we treat 25 patients a day. CT SIMs are performed within the hospital's Diagnostic Imaging department during dedicated times. We are currently in the process of replacing our QA equipment and transitioning to RadMachine, a Radformation product. We have a robust and highly collaborative physics team, which offers the opportunity for coverage support, learning, and collaboration.

Position Summary:

Coordinate and supervise the clinical physics support in Radiation Oncology.

Education, License & Cert:

PhD or Masters in Medical Physics. Current ABR or ABMP certification.

Experience:

Certified by either the ABR or ABMP in all branches of Medical Physics, with minimum 5 years' experience including Brachytherapy and Clinical Dosimetry.

Essential Functions:

1. Coordinate all clinical physics activities for the institution.

2. Calibration of Radiation Therapy machines for all energies and set ups used for accurate delivery of radiation dose to the patient.

3. Perform acceptance testing of new equipment.

4. Perform the quality assurance program set forth by the AAPM Task Group 40.

5. Maintain records and surveys required by the NYSDOH and JCAHO reviews.

6. Coordinate and supervise all maintenance and calibrations of physics instruments, personnel monitoring devices, radiation therapy linear accelerators, x‐ray simulator and treatment planning computer.

7. Responsible for ensuring that all periodic requirements regulated by Federal, State and other national protocol agencies are performed.

8. Develop new protocols and procedures.

9. Maintain monthly and annual quality assurance and calibration records for radiation therapy machines.

Other Duties:

Collaborate with and provide coverage as needed with other radiation oncology Guthrie sites.
