Position Overview
We are looking for a pragmatic Medior / Senior Backend Developer who enjoys solving real-world problems rather than pursuing technical perfection for its own sake. You combine strong engineering fundamentals with a practical mindset, embrace AI-assisted software development where it adds value, and know how to balance scalability, maintainability and delivery speed without over-engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement scalable backend solutions using modern technologies.
- Work on data-intensive cloud-native solutions with a strong focus on scalability and reliability.
- Translate user stories into pragmatic technical solutions that deliver customer value.
- Optimize performance and reliability for large-scale real-time data processing.
- Ensure the security and integrity of backend systems and data.
- Apply a practical, outcome-oriented approach, focusing on solving business problems effectively.
- Use AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude code or similar) where they improve productivity, quality and learning.
- Make conscious design decisions, balancing future flexibility with current business needs and avoiding unnecessary complexity or over-engineering.
- Challenge solutions constructively and keep designs as simple as possible while remaining robust.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional backend development experience.
- Strong experience with Kotlin, Spring, Java, Git, Gradle, Github Actions, RabbitMQ and REST/JSON APIs.
- Experience with AWS, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- A pragmatic engineering mindset with the ability to distinguish essential complexity from unnecessary complexity.
- Experience with or enthusiasm for AI-assisted software development and willingness to continuously adopt new engineering practices.
- Able to balance code quality, maintainability and delivery speed.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills in English.
