MEP Engineer (RIBA Standard)

Summary

Converts 3D laser scans into detailed MEP BIM models for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and coordination across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire systems.

We are seeking an experienced MEP Scan-to-BIM Engineer with 3+ years of hands-on expertise in converting point cloud data into accurate BIM models. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of MEP systems, BIM standards, Scan-to-BIM workflows, and experience working on projects across various RIBA design stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, register, and interpret laser scan/point cloud data for MEP modeling and as-built documentation.
  • Develop detailed MEP BIM models (LOD 300-500) using Autodesk Revit and other BIM tools.
  • Create accurate as-built models from point cloud data for HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Fire Protection systems.
  • Coordinate MEP models with Architectural and Structural disciplines to ensure clash-free project delivery.
  • Perform clash detection, reporting, and coordination using Navisworks or similar coordination platforms.
  • Support project delivery through various RIBA Stages (Stage 2-6), ensuring compliance with project requirements and BIM Execution Plans (BEP).
  • Review and validate model accuracy against survey/scan data and project specifications.
  • Prepare model-based drawings, schedules, and documentation required for design, construction, and facility management.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in MEP Scan-to-BIM projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP, Navisworks, and point cloud processing software such as Autodesk Recap, Faro Scene, CloudWorx, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience working on projects following RIBA Stages 2-6, including design development, technical design, construction, and as-built deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Fire Protection systems.
