Position Summary

The Compensation Manager assists in the design, development, analysis, and implementation of compensation programs that support Marshall Health Network’s strategic objectives. Researches and analyzes competitive compensation practices in the job market and participates in compensation surveys. Administers online appraisal and compensation processes through ADP.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in published compensation surveys throughout the year. Analyzes survey data, market trends, and competitive pay practices to ensure MHN positions are market competitive and meet overall system objectives.
  • Provides benchmarking data and recommendations for market adjustments annually or as requested.
  • Proactively researches current and emerging trends in compensation and pay practices.
  • Provides salary quotes for new hires, transfers, promotions, and other employment actions for MHN staff. Serves as a knowledge resource for Directors of Human Resources and recruiters on compensation matters.
  • Maintains salary grade scales in the ADP system.
  • Implements and monitors employee appraisal and compensation processes in ADP for the system.
  • Works with MHN HRIS to implement annual merit increases, market adjustments, and other special pay increases, such as differentials, premium pay, and call pay.
  • Generates compensation reports from ADP as requested by the MHN Chief Human Resources Officer. Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Works with external compensation consultants to implement large salary increase projects as needed.
  • Maintains the system-wide compensation timeline and circulates it to hospital HR Directors and the CHRO for their information.
  • Maintains MHN compensation policies.
  • Responsible for the proper and consistent handling of processes and HRIS systems supporting workflows for areas of responsibility, including continuous identification of methods to support process improvements.
  • Supports management decision-making by analyzing compensation options and predicting future costs.
  • Resolves high-level employee questions and problems by interpreting compensation policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
