About the role
We are looking for a Mid-Level Back-End Developer to develop, maintain, and optimize the Node.js/TypeScript micro-services that power our platform. You will work primarily on lending, transaction, user management, and notification services, collaborating closely with our mobile and admin-portal development teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions on AWS.
Key responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance back-end services that connect lenders and borrowers, including lender profiles, loan configurations, and loan discovery features
Manage the loan lifecycle, including applications, approvals, disbursements, repayment schedules, extensions, overdue accounts, and demand letters
Build lender-facing features for cash bond balances, transaction histories, loan portfolios, outstanding balances, and payment tracking
Implement accurate interest, service charge, and convenience charge calculations, supported by automated tests covering edge cases and rounding
Develop reliable payment processing workflows and integrations with payment partners
Design and optimize relational databases using MySQL 8 on AWS RDS, including schema design, SQL queries, and safe database migrations
Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and Express across lending, transaction, user, partner, notification, messaging, and admin services
Implement event-driven communication between micro-services using Kafka, with versioned and documented message contracts
Develop and maintain unit and integration tests using tools such as Mocha, Chai, and Supertest
Package and deploy services using Docker and AWS CodeBuild/CodeDeploy to EC2 environments behind load balancers
About you
3–5 years of professional back-end development experience
Strong proficiency in Node.js (version 20 or later) and TypeScript, including asynchronous programming, error handling, and application architecture
Production experience developing REST APIs using Express or a similar framework
Solid knowledge of relational databases, particularly MySQL or PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, transactions, and query optimization
Hands-on experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or a similar event or message broker
Experience implementing authentication and API security, including JWT, OTP, request validation, and OWASP security practices
Practical experience with Docker and deploying or troubleshooting applications on AWS, including EC2, RDS, S3, and load balancers
Experience writing automated tests and working with Git-based version control and pull request workflows
Good written communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate effectively with mobile and front-end developers
