About The Company

Hays Technology is supporting a well‑known organisation with the recruitment of an experienced Mobile iOS Developer for a public‑sector programme. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of mobile applications in an established environment, working alongside a collaborative team of technology and delivery professionals. The position is offered on a contract basis, with an anticipated duration of three to six months. The day rate is £350, inside the scope of IR35. The role is remote, with occasional travel to the organisation’s London office, expected to be approximately one or two times per month.

About The Role

As a Mobile iOS Developer, you will help design, develop and maintain native applications for iOS. You will work throughout the mobile development lifecycle, contributing to application functionality, user interfaces and integrations with backend services. The role requires strong commercial experience with Swift, together with practical development experience using both SwiftUI and UIKit. You will join an established delivery environment and work with other developers and technical specialists to deliver secure, reliable and user‑focused applications. The successful candidate will be hands‑on, comfortable working with an existing codebase and able to contribute to maintainable solutions that meet project requirements. This opportunity is suited to a native iOS developer with recent experience building and improving applications for Apple platforms.

Qualifications

Candidates should have substantial commercial experience developing native iOS applications using Swift. You will have practical experience creating interfaces with SwiftUI and building or maintaining application functionality with UIKit. A good understanding of the iOS SDK, native frameworks and the iOS application lifecycle is required, as is confidence using Xcode for development, debugging and builds. You should also be experienced in integrating iOS applications with REST APIs, including working with service responses and application data. The role calls for sound troubleshooting skills, a collaborative approach to development and the ability to produce clear, maintainable code. Experience with enterprise‑scale applications, public‑sector or regulated environments, Agile delivery, source control, mobile security, performance or accessibility will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain native iOS applications using Swift. Create modern application interfaces and reusable components with SwiftUI, while supporting and extending existing UIKit functionality. Use the iOS SDK and Xcode throughout the development, debugging and build process. Integrate applications with backend systems and services through REST APIs, handling data and responses appropriately. Write clean, reusable and maintainable code, and investigate and resolve application defects and technical issues. Contribute to code reviews, testing and ongoing improvements to the iOS codebase. Work closely with developers, technical specialists and wider delivery colleagues to support the delivery of secure, reliable, performant and user‑focused mobile applications within the programme.

Benefits

The role offers flexible working, with remote work and only occasional travel to the London office, expected to be one or two times per month. The contract is expected to run for three to six months, at a rate of £350 per day inside IR35. You will have the opportunity to contribute your iOS expertise to a public‑sector programme and work within an established delivery team.
