MOSDOH - Dental Assistant

A.T. Still University's Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Dental Assistant on the St. Louis, Missouri campus. This position reports to the Clinical Operations Manager. The Dental Assistant will perform a variety of technical duties to assist in the examination and treatment of patients: perform related duties involved in the care, maintenance and distribution of dental instruments, equipment and supplies. Cross-trained to rotate through various areas of the dental school. Support third- and fourth-year dental students. Covers receptionist area as needed based on patient load.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist dentists and dental students during examinations and procedures by providing instruments, equipment, chairside support, and real-time documentation of findings and treatment.
• Prepare, sterilize, disinfect, log, and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and treatment areas in accordance with infection control and safety standards.
• Set up dental operatories and instrument trays; prepare and handle dental materials, impressions, and model pour-ups.
• Prepare patients for dental treatment by obtaining health histories, vital signs, consent forms, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout procedures.
• Continuously observe patients and report any changes in condition to the dentist or supervising provider. If certified and as needed, monitor and document nitrous oxide treatment.
• Accurately document and maintain patient records, including charting treatment, scanning documents, and ensuring completeness and confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
