National Quality Manager
Help shape quality across a national telecommunications network.

You will lead quality across Downer's telecommunications operations in New Zealand, building capability, strengthening compliance and driving continuous improvement.
Working alongside operational leaders, customers and your team, you'll turn data and insights into action, helping improve performance and deliver on our contractual commitments. This is an opportunity to influence quality outcomes nationally while supporting a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading the national quality programme
- Developing and improving our Quality Management System
- Managing internal and external audits
- Driving corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Coaching and developing a team of quality professionals
- Partnering with operational leaders and customers to improve quality outcomes
This permanent role can be based in Auckland or Wellington and offers flexibility with one work from home day each week and minimal travel.
Ngā pūkenga matua | What we're looking for
You'll bring proven experience in quality management, auditing and continuous improvement, along with the confidence to influence stakeholders and lead a high performing team. You'll know how to turn quality standards and performance insights into practical improvements that deliver value for customers and operational teams.
You'll also bring:
- At least five years' experience in quality assurance, quality control or quality management, including people leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems, ISO 9001, auditing and continuous improvement
- Experience leading audits, managing corrective actions and driving quality improvements
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and reporting skills
- A practical, solutions focused approach to problem solving and performance improvement
- Experience delivering training within telecommunications, electrical or another technical environment
The following qualifications will be highly regarded:
- Internal Auditor qualification
- Relevant NZQA Level 4 qualification
- Qualification in Quality Management, Engineering or a related discipline
- Formal Health and Safety training
- Lead Auditor certification
Telecommunications experience is advantageous but not essential. If you've built your quality career within engineering, utilities, infrastructure, construction or another technical environment, we'd love to hear from you.
