NAVAL ARCHITECT
You will serve as a NAVAL ARCHITECT in the Engineering Department (200) in the Naval Architecture Division (250) of SUPSHIP.
You will provide surveillance of Contractor design and production engineering products.
You will review and evaluate requested for Departure from Specifications (DFS)
You will review and evaluate the Contractor's scoping of engineering changes to determine that the scope of work envisioned by the Contractor meets the intent of the contract change and whether the estimate of engineering man-hours required.
You will review and prepare proposed engineering contract changes to determine that the change contains sufficient specifications to insure clarity, correctness, adequacy, suitability and engineering feasibility of arrangement and installation.
You will confer with engineering personnel at equipment manufacturers, design agents, HIINC, naval shipyards and private shipyards to establish acceptable design and construction procedures.
You will prepare correspondence of acceptable quality to require minimal review by the Branch Head and/or Division Head for attainment of objectives and conformance with policies and procedures.
You will perform ship checks to evaluate systems/equipment design issues, to support major ship key event special evolutions such as propulsion plant system inspections, undocking, and sea trial support for ship delivery/redelivery.
You will coordinate efforts and maintain liaison through meetings and conferences with Contractor supervisors, design engineers, vendors and other engineering personnel from within the organization and from other Naval commands.
