As a Network Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the Institute's network infrastructure. Working closely with teams and leaders across the organisation, you'll help ensure our connectivity and systems perform at their best, enabling our people to succeed.

You will be a confident communicator, able to build strong relationships and work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. We're looking for someone with proven experience in troubleshooting network and infrastructure issues, using a structured, analytical, and methodical approach to identify and resolve problems.

What you will be doing | Ngā whāinga matua

In this role, you will:

  • Support, maintain and troubleshoot BSI's network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, NAC, wireless, firewalls, internet connectivity and remote access.
  • Implement infrastructure changes in accordance with approved designs, security standards and change management processes.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, availability and security, resolving issues and escalating where appropriate.
  • Contribute to broader infrastructure support, including Windows, Linux, cloud, virtualisation and storage technologies as required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Fortinet, Aruba, Juniper Microsoft, Azure, AWS or equivalent are desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience troubleshooting infrastructure and network issues using a structured and methodical approach.
