Network Engineer
Summary
Designs and upgrades enterprise data-center networks (leaf-spine, ACI), migrates WAN/LAN/WiFi, and maintains Cisco/Checkpoint/F5 stacks while following ITIL change processes.
- Possess hands-on experience with data center network topologies (leaf-spine architecture, three-tier architecture, Clos architecture, ACI architecture).
- Have practical experience in technical upgrades for end-of-life (EOL) or end-of-sale (EOS) network devices (e.g., Cisco routers/switches), firewalls (e.g., Checkpoint), load balancers (e.g., F5 LTM/GTM/APM), wireless controllers, and Cisco wireless access points.
- Ensure that technical upgrades of target devices are compatible with other on-site assets.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Have experience in developing data center migration plans to minimize or eliminate network downtime.
- Collaborate closely with solution architects to conduct high-level design (HLD) for local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and wireless networks (WiFi).
- Develop detailed design (LLD) for target architectures.
- Work closely with project managers to formulate implementation plans.
- Ensure complete handover documentation to the operations team.
- Collaborate closely with other data center support teams (server, storage, application teams).
- Collaborate with telecom operators (MSPs) to commission, upgrade, and decommission critical data center links (MPLS, SDWAN, Internet).
- Adhere to the client's ITIL processes and procedures.
- Conduct change management, prepare technical documentation (operation manuals), and formulate deployment plans.
- Proactively provide support during the post-change warranty period until devices are handed over to the business-as-usual (BAU) operations team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Master technologies such as SDWAN, MPLS, VPN, IPSec, GRE, wireless, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- Have in-depth knowledge of data center LAN, wireless networks, firewall, and load balancer technologies (e.g., Cisco, Checkpoint, F5-related technologies).
- Be familiar with infrastructure requirements and components of WAN/LAN and wireless network architectures.
- Possess strong communication skills to interact effectively with technical users at all levels.
Certification Requirements
- Candidates with CCIE (Routing/Switching/Wireless), Checkpoint, or F5-related certifications will be preferred.
Other Requirements
- Willingness to accept short-term business trips.
