Network Security and Systems Administrator
Summary
Full-time, 1-year fixed-term (possibly ongoing) role on the ICT team of an independent Prep–Year 12 school in Melbourne, securing and administering the college's network, identity, and Microsoft/Apple infrastructure. Core tech includes firewalls, Active Directory/Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure, VMware vSphere, Jamf, and Juniper Mist.
Overnewton Anglican Community College is seeking an experienced and proactive Network Security & Systems Administrator to join our ICT team on full-time basis for a fixed term period of one year with a possibility of ongoing.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled IT professional to play a key role in securing, managing, and enhancing the College's network, systems, and digital infrastructure.
Working closely with the Director of ICT and IT Manager, you will be responsible for the administration and continuous improvement of the College's cybersecurity posture, Microsoft and Apple environments, network infrastructure, identity management systems, and disaster recovery capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain network security technologies including firewalls, VPNs, NAC, IDS/IPS, and security monitoring platforms.
Manage identity and access services across Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365, supporting the College's passwordless authentication strategy.
Conduct security assessments, risk reviews, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities.
Support Microsoft Purview, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), data classification, and information governance initiatives.
Co-manage Microsoft Server, Exchange, SQL, Azure, Microsoft 365, Intune, VMware vSphere, and Hyper-V environments.
Support Apple ecosystems including Jamf and Apple School Manager.
Maintain wired and wireless network infrastructure, including switching, NAC, and Juniper Mist environments.
Develop and maintain documentation, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity processes.
Provide technical guidance to ICT team members and contribute to strategic technology initiatives across the College.
Key Selection Criteria
You are an experienced infrastructure and security professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for delivering secure, reliable, and innovative IT services. You possess:
Demonstrated experience in network security administration and cybersecurity best practices.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft cloud, identity, and infrastructure technologies.
Experience managing enterprise Microsoft and Apple environments.
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with security audits, compliance, incident response, and disaster recovery planning.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years' experience in a senior systems administration, infrastructure, or network security role.
A current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
