About the Role
Ontrack Systems Aus Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Network Security Project / Design Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. Based in North Ryde, NSW, this role offers an exciting opportunity to design, implement, and manage complex network security infrastructure projects.
You will play a key role in developing scalable, secure solutions that protect critical organisational assets and data. This position requires a professional who can translate strategic security objectives into practical, high‑quality technical designs and implementations.
Key Deliverables
High‑Level and Low‑Level Solution Designs (HLD & LLD)
Creation of detailed Low‑Level Design documents
Preparation of comprehensive implementation plans
Firewall communication matrices
Firewall, proxy, and VPN gateway configurations
Firewall policy optimisation and compliance
Updating technical documentation and network diagrams
Firewall RITM implementation records
Firewall migration activities
Consolidation and standardisation initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Strong background in planning, design, and migration of network security solutions
Hands‑on expertise with firewalls, particularly Fortinet and Check Point
Proven experience producing LLDs and technical design documentation
Experience with FortiManager and Check Point Smart‑1
VPN deployment and troubleshooting experience
Solid understanding of dynamic routing protocols
Router/switch knowledge (Cisco preferred – nice to have)
Proxy and VPN gateway design and implementation experience
Confluence documentation skills
Strong change management capability
Experience working on large‑scale infrastructure or transformation projects
Basic systems experience with Linux variants
Years of Experience
5–10 years in network security engineering
Fortinet and Check Point certifications highly preferred
