NUTRITION COORDINATOR
SUMMARY
The Nutrition Coordinator acts as a program representative for the daily operation of congregate dining and the Meals on Wheels program at our New Smyrna Beach location; this position oversees and participates in the packaging of meals with the aid of staff and/or volunteers. This position may be required to deliver meals if no other staff or volunteer is available.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Responsible to the Programs Manager, Nutrition & Activities and has a support responsibility to other departments as necessary.
- Responsible for the supervision of assigned department personnel and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the accurate ordering of the weekly congregate and home delivered meals in a way as to minimize overage.
- Responsible for actively engaging with client/members to promote a positive and uplifting environment to enhance their overall experience.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate paperwork including but not limited to; client assessments/reassessments, monitoring forms, rosters, reservation logs, client folders, volunteer paperwork and supply orders.
- Be familiar with the goals and objectives of the Department of Elder Affairs and share responsibility for meeting annual goals on meals served and donations collected.
- Establish a cooperative working relationship with the Programs Manager, Nutrition & Activities and be receptive to participate in developing, and implementing new and innovative ideas regarding nutrition activities.
- Responsible for scheduling all Meals on Wheels (MOW) and kitchen volunteers to ensure the meal service at the assigned location runs efficiently and all meals are delivered.
- Responsible for reviewing Food Safety Standard requirements with all volunteers on a quarterly basis.
- Responsible for coordinating Grab-n-Go and shelf-stable meals as necessary at various times throughout the year.
- Initiate and maintain community outreach to assist in enlisting volunteers, new client/members and building partnerships with the local community.
- Responsible for establishing a yearly Advisory Council that meets the Department of Elder Affairs requirements, in order to report twice per year on menu changes, member complaints and/or suggestions, and improvements.
- Responsible for dispersing the monthly nutrition education information for congregate and MOW clients; distributes surveys to both MOW and congregate clients to ensure education information is effectively received.
- Maintain safe food handling and sanitation as established by 64E-11 of the Florida Statutes.
- Responsible for inspecting the assigned location twice per year to ensure compliance.
- Performs the functions of delivery driver, if necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
