Job Summary

The Oncology Financial Navigator supports PATHS’ mission by assisting oncology patients and their families in securing appropriate health coverage, identifying financial assistance resources, and reducing financial barriers to treatment. This role is primarily based at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA, and works directly with patients in a healthcare setting to provide education, insurance guidance, and advocacy support while ensuring accurate documentation, compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations, and improved patient access to care.

CAREXST partners with PATHS to deliver specialized financial navigation services, supporting oncology patients who may be at risk for financial toxicity during treatment.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist oncology patients in identifying and applying for Medical Assistance, financial assistance programs, and other available resources.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding insurance coverage, benefits, and potential out-of-pocket costs related to treatment.
  • Assess patient needs and identify opportunities to reduce financial burden and improve access to care.
  • Work directly with patients in a hospital or clinical setting to obtain required financial and insurance information.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with PATHS policies and HIPAA requirements.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, case managers, and support staff to ensure continuity of patient care and financial planning.
  • Meet productivity and documentation standards as required by the program.
  • Complete all required initial PATHS training (HIPAA, compliance, security, client protocols, role-specific workflows) within onboarding timelines.
  • Participate in required ongoing training and demonstrate ability to apply new knowledge in daily work.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. *
