Job Summary
The Sales Development Agent will be responsible for generating and qualifying new business opportunities as part of an internal sales and business development team.
The successful candidate will be highly experienced and confident in cold calling and outbound prospecting, with the ability to consistently make 100+ outbound calls per day while maintaining professional, engaging, and persuasive communication.
This position will focus on identifying prospective clients, initiating conversations, qualifying opportunities, setting verified appointments, and maintaining an accurate sales pipeline. You will work closely with the CEO and internal sales leadership to support the company's business development objectives.
Industry or product-specific experience is not required. The primary requirement is demonstrated success in high-volume outbound calling, lead generation, appointment setting, and professional sales communication.
Essential Job Functions
1. Outbound Prospecting & Cold Calling – 40%
- Conduct a high volume of outbound cold calls to prospective businesses and decision-makers.
- Consistently complete 100+ outbound calls per day while maintaining quality and professionalism.
- Introduce VLBPO's services in a clear, confident, and compelling manner.
- Identify potential business opportunities through telephone prospecting and other outbound channels.
- Overcome initial objections and effectively engage prospects.
- Follow established calling strategies, scripts, messaging, and sales processes.
- Research prospects before or during outreach where appropriate.
- Maintain professionalism and persistence throughout the prospecting process.
2. Lead Qualification & Appointment Setting – 25%
- Identify and qualify prospects based on established business development criteria.
- Ask effective discovery questions to determine prospect needs, interest, authority, and potential fit.
- Generate qualified leads and move prospects through the initial stages of the sales pipeline.
- Schedule appointments between qualified prospects and the appropriate VLBPO sales representative or leadership member.
- Confirm scheduled appointments and conduct appropriate follow-up to maximize prospect attendance.
- Accurately document lead status, appointment details, and prospect information.
3. Sales Pipeline & CRM Management – 15%
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date prospect and lead information within the company's CRM or designated sales platform.
- Record calls, interactions, follow-ups, appointment outcomes, and prospect status.
- Monitor assigned leads and ensure timely follow-up.
- Maintain an organized pipeline of prospects and opportunities.
- Provide accurate updates regarding lead activity, appointment volume, and pipeline progression.
4. Relationship Building & Follow-Up – 10%
- Establish professional relationships with prospective clients through consistent and effective communication.
- Conduct follow-up calls, emails, and other approved communication to nurture prospects.
- Maintain regular contact with prospects who require additional engagement before scheduling an appointment.
- Demonstrate strong listening, interpersonal, and persuasion skills.
- Represent VLBPO professionally in all interactions with potential clients.
5. Reporting, Collaboration & Continuous Improvement – 10%
- Provide regular reports on outbound activity, leads generated, appointments scheduled, and appointment attendance.
- Work closely with the CEO and internal sales team to improve lead generation and conversion strategies.
- Participate in sales meetings, coaching sessions, and performance reviews.
- Identify trends, challenges, and opportunities within the prospecting process.
- Remain informed about VLBPO's services, sales messaging, target markets, and business development objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications
Knowledge
- Knowledge of outbound sales, telemarketing, lead generation, and appointment-setting processes.
- Understanding of cold-calling techniques and prospect engagement.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and sales pipeline management.
- Basic understanding of sales performance metrics and activity tracking.
Skills & Experience
- 1–3+ years of demonstrated experience in cold calling, telemarketing, inside sales, lead generation, or appointment setting.
- Proven ability to perform 100+ outbound calls per day.
- Strong track record of engaging prospects and generating qualified leads.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to communicate naturally, confidently, and professionally with U.S.-based prospects and decision-makers.
- Strong persuasion, objection-handling, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a sales team.
- Comfortable working toward activity, appointment, and performance targets.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM or lead-management systems.
- Ability to learn and effectively communicate VLBPO's services and value proposition.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience selling BPO, outsourcing, staffing, technology, professional services, or other business-to-business services.
- Experience prospecting U.S.-based businesses.
- Experience working with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
- Experience in high-volume outbound sales environments.
- Proven history of meeting or exceeding appointment-setting targets.

Work Conditions / Physical Demands / Travel Requirements
Work Conditions
- This is an onsite position.
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- Requires sustained telephone and computer-based work throughout the workday.
- Requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven sales environment.
Travel Requirements
The successful candidate must be willing and available to travel:
- Locally within Jamaica
- Internationally, as required by the business
Travel may include participation in client meetings, business development activities, conferences, networking events, or other company-related engagements.
