The Role

You will be responsible for ensuring an efficient and reliable daily purchasing flow by placing orders, following up deliveries, and maintaining continuous contact with suppliers. The role focuses on execution, delivery performance, and ensuring that materials are available in line with business needs.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Daily Purchasing Activities

  • Create and manage purchase orders (POs)

  • Handle releases from blanket agreements

  • Ensure orders are placed correctly and on time

  • Manage purchases not driven by MRP or planning

  • Supplier Communication

  • Maintain daily contact with suppliers regarding orders, confirmations, and delivery status

  • Ensure timely order confirmations and alignment with requirements

  • Follow up on delivery commitments and changes

  • Order Follow-up & Deviation Handling

  • Monitor order status and delivery performance

  • Identify and manage deviations such as delays, shortages, or incorrect deliveries

  • Escalate issues when required

Coordination

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Planning, Production, Logistics, etc.) regarding purchasing needs and delivery status

  • Support internal requestors in purchasing-related matters

  • Work closely with Buyers on supplier-related topics when needed

  • Ad hoc & Non-Planning Purchasing

  • Handle purchases initiated outside standard planning processes

  • Ensure ad hoc demand is converted into purchase orders

  • Manage purchasing through available tools and workflows (e.g. Oracle, SharePoint)

Collaboration
Internal: Planning, Production, Logistics, Quality, End users
External: Suppliers (daily operational contact)
Other Coherent sites and internal stakeholders

Authority
Place purchase orders according to defined processes and guidelines
Handle day-to-day supplier communication and follow-up

About You

  • At least a high school diploma and post-secondary education is considered a plus

  • 1–3 years of experience in operational purchasing, logistics, or a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • Fluent in English and Swedish (both orally and written)

  • Ability to plan and prioritize work in a structured and organized way

  • Proactive mindset with strong follow-up skills

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build good working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling orders and data

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Basic understanding of procurement processes and order flows

  • Experience working in ERP systems (e.g. Oracle or SAP) and good knowledge of Excel

  • Ability to identify and escalate issues when needed
