Operations Manager
The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, performance, safety, and compliance of a large-scale corporate shuttle transportation program supporting airport and airside operations.
This position will manage contracted shuttle service provider, oversee transportation performance and operational costs, and coordinate continuous bus service supporting up to 20,000 employees during daily shift changes and peak-season operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in transit, fleet, transportation, or large-scale bus operations, along with the ability to manage vendor relationships, labor requirements, safety compliance, and time-sensitive transportation logistics in a high-volume airport environment.
Salary - $70,000 annually
Transportation Operations
Oversee daily shuttle transportation operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient service.
Coordinate continuous bus routes supporting transportation for up to 20,000 employees.
Manage transportation coverage during a day, night, shift-change, and peak-season sortation windows.
Monitor service levels and respond quickly to operational disruptions, delays, staffing issues, equipment issues, and transportation emergencies.
Ensure adequate fleet and driver coverage to meet operational requirements.
Vendor & Contract Management
Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
Ensure compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs) and contractual requirements.
Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service quality.
Conduct regular performance reviews of the operation and address deficiencies as needed.
Labor Relations
Ensure route scheduling, staffing practices, and driver disciplinary actions comply with the Teamsters Local 89 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Work collaboratively with operations leadership, transportation personnel, and labor representatives.
Address scheduling, attendance, performance, and employee-relations issues in accordance with applicable labor agreements and company policies.
Safety & Airside Compliance
Enforce strict FAA, OSHA, and TSA safety and security requirements.
Ensure transportation operations comply with airport-specific airside and restricted area requirements.
Oversee safe bus operations near aircraft parking ramps, taxiways, and other controlled airfield areas.
Promote a strong safety culture among transportation personnel and contracted service providers.
Ensure required driver credentials, security badges, training, and certifications remain current.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
Analyze transportation performance data to identify trends, service gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and implement operational improvements that enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and employee experience.
Prepare operational reports and performance updates for leadership.
Support transportation planning for seasonal volume increases, special events, and changes in workforce demand.
High School Diploma required.
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business Management, or a related field highly preferred.
3–5 years of experience managing corporate transportation, airport shuttle fleets, transit operations, or large-scale bus operations.
Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement. Preferred, not required.
Clean driving record required.
Ability to successfully pass an FAA-regulated fingerprint-based background check.
Ability to obtain and maintain an SDF Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge with driving privileges for restricted airfield zones.
Demonstrated experience managing transportation vendors, service providers, or contracted operations.
Strong understanding of transportation safety, compliance, scheduling, and operational performance.
