Essential functions:

  • Preparing surfaces, removing rust, scale, and old coatings to clean or roughen surfaces.

  • Cover areas not to be painted using tape, paper, or drop cloths to prevent overspray.

  • Applies primers, coatings, and finishing coats to fabricated parts and equipment using specialized spray guns.

  • Mixing and matching colors and coatings to meet specific job requirements.

  • Selecting and utilizing appropriate abrasives (e.g., grit, shot, sand) based on the material.

  • Cleans and maintains paint guns, spray booths, pumps, and hoses to ensure proper functionality.

  • Follow safety procedures, operating scaffolding/ladders safely, and cleaning tools and work areas after completion.

  • Adhering to OSHA safety standards, using PPE (respirators, suits), and managing hazardous materials.

  • Assist with surface preparation using sandblasting equipment

  • Other duties as assigned

    Key Requirements and Skills

  • High school diploma/GED is typically required.
  • Oilfield experience preferred.
  • Selecting and utilizing appropriate abrasives (e.g., grit, shot, sand) based on the material.
  • Previous experience in industrial painting, blasting techniques, surface preparation standards, manufacturing, or finishing.
  • Familiarity with paint types (epoxies, urethanes) and application equipment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (often 50+ pounds), and work in confined spaces.
  • Ensuring high-quality, professional finishes.
  • Completing projects on schedule.
  • Following verbal/written instructions and communicating with team members.
