TECHNICIAN
Core Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Sand, grind, fill, and prime damaged areas to ensure a smooth, flawless base.
- Color Matching & Mixing: Utilize spectrophotometers or mixing systems to achieve exact, seamless color formulas.
- Painting Operations: Operate spray guns to apply base coats, clear coats, and specialty finishes in controlled paint booth environments.
- Detailing & Finishing: Inspect finishes for defects like runs or sags. Correct imperfections through wet sanding, buffing, and polishing.
- Safety & Compliance: Properly handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials while wearing recommended Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Equipment Maintenance: Keep spray guns, mixing rooms, and booths clean and in optimal working condition.
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventative tasks (and dismantle, repair, or replace broken components.
- Testing: Road-test repaired vehicles or use specialized testing equipment to verify serviceability and performance.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, legible logs of services rendered and parts used to support warranty claims and customer support.
- Customer Communication: Explain necessary repairs or maintenance needs to clients or service advisors and provide accurate time and cost estimates.
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Technical Experience: Previous experience in auto body repair, painting for over 5 years.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift heavy equipment or panels.
- Manual Dexterity: Steady hand and a keen eye for color variation and detail.
- Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with power tools, pneumatic sanders, paint thickness gauges, and spraying equipment.
