Pasting Operator - Ferro Silicon Plant
Summary
Operates and maintains electrode pasting systems in a ferro silicon plant, ensuring safe and efficient electrode consumption and furnace stability in a high-temperature industrial environment.
- Prepare and charge electrode paste into the electrode casing according to the approved SOP.
- Monitor electrodes paste consumption, height, baking condition and slipping activities.
- Verifying the paste is free from contamination.
- Maintain cleanliness around electrode pasting area.
- Ready to support any section/area needed.
- Always coordinate with CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR and S.I about electrode condition.
- Vocational/Technical Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical, Industrial Operations, Metallurgical Processes,
- Industrial Maintenance, Production Operations, or a related technical discipline.
- Vocational/Technical Certificate: Minimum 3 years of experience in Ferro Silicon, ferroalloy, steel, smelting, mining, or other heavy industrial operations.
- Diploma: Minimum 2 years of experience in Ferro Silicon, ferroalloy, steel, smelting, mining, or other heavy industrial operations.
- Exposure to electrode paste charging, electrode handling activities, furnace operations, or production
support activities in high-temperature industrial environments.
- Experience working in submerged arc furnaces (SAF), electric arc furnaces (EAF), ferroalloy plants, foundries, or similar process industries is preferred.
- Prior exposure to shift operations, routine inspections, shutdown activities, and industrial safety procedures is highly preferred.
- Experience working with operating procedures, inspection checklists, and equipment monitoring activities is an advantage.
- Ability to safely handle, prepare, and charge electrode paste in accordance with approved operating procedures.
- Basic understanding of electrode systems, electrode paste consumption, electrode slipping concepts, and baking processes.
- Ability to monitor electrode conditions and identify abnormal operating situations such as irregular consumption, paste bridging, casing damage, or poor baking conditions.
- Ability to conduct routine inspections of electrode paste charging systems, electrode casings, and associated equipment.
- Ability to maintain accurate operational logs, inspection records, and shift reports.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with Control Room Operators (CONTROL ROOM OPERATORs), Shift In-Charges, and Maintenance personnel.
- Ability to support shutdown activities and routine furnace maintenance work.
- Ability to identify and report equipment defects, operational abnormalities, and safety concerns promptly.
- Strong adherence to Safety Standards, SOPs, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work requirements, and emergency procedures.
- General understanding of Ferro Silicon production processes and submerged arc furnace (SAF) operating principles.
- Strong situational awareness, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.
